Responsibilities

As part of our Corporate Engineering team the Electrical Engineer II (Power) will participate and manage electrical project teams to design, purchase and install equipment at our various plant locations, collaborate with manufacturing plants in troubleshooting and problem solving as needed, and be responsible to design processes for potential projects.  The Engineer is involved in all aspects of a project, from start to finish, often acting not only as the creative lead, but the team leader at times as well.  Duties include:

  • Design and draft elements relating to projects for implementation.
  • Perform power system design for low and medium voltage regarding:
    • Transformers, Power distribution panels, Motor control centers, Motors / motor starters, Equipment protective devices, Variable Frequency Drives, Soft Starters and Generators
    • Design One-Line diagrams using Drafting Software for electrical installations
  • Perform calculations to size and spec components (wire, conduit, transformers, breakers, etc.)
  • Seek out, suggest and ultimately lead any power efficiency related projects.
  • Contact manufacturers and vendors for materials required to support proposed design.
  • Receive quotes on projects, set schedules for construction of project.
  • Oversee construction of projects and signs off on acceptance of service/work required.
  • File documentation of engineering drawings. 
  • Review drawings and specs for all items related to Power Design.
  • Responsible for obtaining temporary help for engineering discipline on projects and maintain a workable relationship with outside temporary agencies.
  • Ensure company safety procedures are being adhered to.
  • Assist facility personnel in any regulatory compliance issues ie. Arc Flash.
  • Provide support for facilities worldwide.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assess training options for maintenance staff.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a field of study such as Electrical Engineering.
  • Position requires between 5-10 years of electrical engineering experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing or process environment is desired but not required.
  • Ability to evaluate project requirements and apply the appropriate solutions.
  • Strong skills in project engineering/project management. 
  • Strong Skills in AutoCad (or equivalent) and ETAP
  • Strong Familiarity with NEC 2014 and NFPA 70

Travel - estimated 30% with some weekend overnights
