In the role of Upstairs Operator in the plastics department you will be responsible for the following:


Blender Loader:

  1. Perform all job duties in a safe and productive manner. Cooperate with upstairs crew leader and coordinate breaks with crew leader.
  2. Load and clean ribbon blenders.
  3. Weigh compound ingredients.
  4. Sample and transfer samples to lab.
  5. Housekeeping in assigned area.
  6. Clean out blenders between compound runs. Check and clean exhaust fans. Change filters after each blend.
  7. Clean blender area.
  8. Charge blenders.
  9. Clean silos, including silo scales.
  10. Assist in running scrap on Banbury system when called for.
  11. Complete all paperwork properly.
  12. Report any problems with your equipment immediately: this includes any powder, water, steam, and air or oil leaks.
  13. Assist in cleaning other areas within the department.
  14. Complete any other assignment given to you by your Crew Leader or Supervisor.
  15. Maintain a reasonable level of quality production
  16. Keep work station clean at all times.
  17. Assist other blender loaders when necessary in order to maintain production.


           Console Operator:

  1. All blender loader functions listed above.
  2. Read and understand schedule.
  3. Add bulk oil and resin to blenders.

  2. To make sure that small ingredients are weighed and labeled correctly.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • High School Diploma or GED or minimum of two years prior work experience at TA/TN.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Essential Physical Requirements:


  • Handle, cut and dump bags weighing as much as 60 lbs. into blenders, can be as many as 200-300 bags per shift.
  • Bend over box/drum scooping material at the same time, could have to load as much as 20,000- 40,000 pounds during a shift.
  • Operate fork and hand trucks.
  • Bend over inside blenders scrapping walls.
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs.
  • Handle drums and related equipment.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and lean over for a period of time.
  • Ability to wear required safety equipment.
