Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing, managing and carry out all company policies, procedures, and rules. Responsible for the operation of assigned warehouses and yard functions. Consolidate and lower freight and operations costs where possible.

 

  • On a daily basis, ensures that all the Company safety rules and programs are followed by the employees.
  • On a daily basis, attends the daily production meeting to review the pending shipments of finished goods with the team.
  • On a daily basis, oversees the receiving of railcars and bulk trucks to insure that the receipt and transfer of materials to our tanks and silos proceeds smoothly.
  • On a daily basis, manages the allocation of personnel to different tasks in the department.
  • On a daily basis, coaches and motivates workers to improve their work performance and
  • On a daily basis, interacts closely with local customer service, production, and corporate customer service representatives.
  • On a daily basis, collaborates with Buyer / Planners on any incoming raw material issues.
  • On a daily basis, manages and coordinates the shipment of finished goods.
  • On a daily basis, manages the operations at our garden hose warehouse.
  • On a regular basis, interacts with corporate and sister plant’s traffic and logistics groups.
  • On an annual basis, manages the Year End Physical Inventory Count.
  • On a regular basis, addresses any issues with the Union Pacific railcar deliveries.
  • Maintains working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • On as needed basis, performs investigations on logistics type customer complaints and implements needed corrective actions.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Qualifications & Competencies

This job has direct supervisory responsibilities with subordinates and different departments reporting to this role.

  • Position provides direct supervision for all Shipping & Receiving operations and personnel
  • Position has direct responsibility for the shift performance in meeting the department's and safety objectives.
  • Position has budget responsibilities.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Plastics extrusion/injection molding, medical device or automotive manufacturing highly desired

  • Experience in a union environment and working with a collective bargaining agreement highly desired
