Responsibilities

Join our IT department as a Computer Operator. In this role you will support support and maintain all operational activities as they relate to the Computer Room system (iSeries), peripheral equipment, operating system software, and associated third party software.  Provide basic helpdesk support during shift.  Other responsibilities include: document systems malfunctions, error conditions and abnormal job termination; perform recovery from errors and job terminations; provide management with timely and accurate reports. Duties include:

  • Monitor iSeries for optimal performance
  • Monitor production systems; including iSeries, servers and applications using defined tools.
  • Monitor batch workload schedules
  • Monitor backups and restores
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues
  • Support iSeries technical support needs
  • Communicate with users and department personnel for problem resolution
  • Answer, monitor, log, and follow up on Helpdesk requests.  Alert appropriate personnel when needed.
  • Provide first level technical support both locally and remotely
  • Provide technical and troubleshooting assistance related to computer hardware and software.
  • Tag all computer equipment and enter into Inventory database
  • Assist with computer workstation equipment moves as needed
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • The position requires 2-4 years of related experience.
  • The position has moderate physical effort that requires lifting, carrying and moving materials or supplies.

Hours: Monday - Friday 4:30pm-12:30am; must be available for occasional overtime
