Responsibilities

Join our team as the Maintenance Supervisor at our Leominster, MA Plant.  In this role you will be responsible for supervising the maintenance and repair of plant equipment in a cost efficient manner, as directed by his/her manager. Assigns and prioritizes tasks for maintenance department employees. Responsibilities include insuring safety/environmental, maintenance, and quality procedures are followed. Respond to incidents such as spills or accidents. Supervise and develop the maintenance staff, determine shift priorities and assign staff as needed, provides support to maintenance personnel, trouble shoot maintenance issues, works close with the Production Department and Applications Development to resolve production or laboratory reported issues in a timely manner. Reviews daily maintenance project lists to ensure department objectives are met.

  • Completes daily maintenance plan by scheduling and assigning personnel as needed;  establishing priorities; monitoring progress; resolving maintenance and production problems; reporting results on the shift maintenance to the Plant Engineer.
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring personnel and resources; implementing lean principles; monitoring reporting procedures and systems; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Accomplishes maintenance results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, identifying and coordinating training needs, appraising job results; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Maintains staff by training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Schedules Maintenance Employees’ work schedule I accordance with business needs. Approves and processes time cards for Maintenance Department Employees.
  • Tracks, approves and reports Maintenance Employees’ time off hours.
  • Will cover Maintenance call-ins if needed; usually in emergency situation or to maintain coverage when Maintenance Employees have time off.
  • Ensures proper operation of equipment by issuance of work orders for repairs, both scheduled and unscheduled using CMMS. Evaluates forklift inspection sheets for any repairs or services needed. Interacts with other managers, supervisors, and production workers on maintenance issues.
  • On a daily basis, responsible for ongoing and continuous awareness to health and safety needs.
  • Insure a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the proper use of   equipment and resources; maintaining compliance with established environmental and safety policies and procedures.
  • Desire to improve professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.
  • Ability to interact tactfully and courteous with fellow employees, vendors and contractors
  • Complete other assignments as determined by management.

 

Qualifications & Competencies

  • 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures and manuals, professional journals or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and effectively communicate with managers, contractors, vendors, clients, customers and general public.
  • Ability to calculate mathematical concepts.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Preventive Maintenance software, ERP systems. CAD proficiency is a plus.
  • MA licensed Electrician I s plus
