Responsibilities

As part of our Plant Engineering team the Electrical Engineer will design, propose, purchase, manage, install and document electrical and controls projects or portions of projects. This will include new building, facility or process equipment installations, replacement, upgrades or modifications. This position is also responsible for troubleshooting current electrical and/or controls issues. They are involved in all aspects of a project, from start to finish, often acting not only as the creative lead, but as the team leader as well. Duties include:

 

  • Participate as electrical/controls engineer on multidiscipline project teams
  • Troubleshoot process electrical and controls items
  • Write Ladder Logic on new projects and existing equipment.
  • Perform HMI design.
  • Perform basic network design on new projects and system upgrades.
  • Design and draft elements relating to projects for implementation.
  • Contact manufacturers and vendors for materials required to support proposed design.
  • Receive quotes on projects, set project schedules.
  • Oversee projects and signs off on acceptance of service/work required.
  • Draft and file engineering drawings.  Provides assistance in retrieving past and present project information.
  • Responsible for obtaining contract help for engineering discipline on projects and maintain a workable relationship with outside contractors.
  • Ensure Company safety procedures are being adhered to.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • B.S.E.E. (preferable) or E.E.T. with equivalent experience
  • 4+years manufacturing electrical and controls experience in the following:
    • Experience with ladder logic, preferably on the following RS-Logix Platforms: RSLogix 5, 500, 5000
    • Experience with VFDs, preferably Allen Bradley Power Flex series
    • Experience with HMI design, preferably on the following platforms: Ignition, FactoryTalk ME
    • Experience with historical data acquisition, preferably on the following platforms: FactoryTalk Historian, Vantage Point
    • Familiarity with Ethernet/IP and basic networking best practices.
    • Drafting Skills in AutoCAD (or equivalent)
    • Familiarity with NEC 2014 and NFPA 70
  • Working knowledge of plant power distribution equipment and controls.
