    Teknor Apex Company has an opening for a Process Engineer at its Jamestown, North Carolina facility.

                   The duties of this Process Engineer position for a custom compounder of advanced polymer materials are to: Monitor the existing production process, paying particular attention to  products with a history of  problems; Develop new production process methods based on their application and formulation of production; Work on projects to improve rates and set up standard formats for different processes; Assist in establishing specific work goals and performance standards in order to reduce reject rate and minimize downtime; Answer customer complaints and implement corrective action when necessary to resolve issues; Be responsible for production trials and spearhead the production trial team at the plant to improve the success rate at the customer. Incidental domestic travel (10-20% of time and overnight and non-overnight) is required for this position.

                Requirements are a Bachelor’s Degree in Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science or Materials Science or related field and a minimum of two years post-Degree experience in the job for a custom compounder of advanced polymer materials or for a manufacturer of plastics or plastics-based products.

    Qualifications & Competencies

    This position also requires two years of experience in the following: formulation, compounding, extrusion, injection molding and mechanical, thermal characterization techniques; working in and supporting an ISO 9000 environment; writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers; working with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; and interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and dealing with several abstract and concrete variables.
