    Responsibilities

    The Technical Manager, TPE is responsible for satisfying the long and mid-term development needs of the TPE business by keeping abreast of the latest technology development trends and competitive activity.  In this position, you will support the various needs of the business and technology at the plant level as well as our customers through strong communication and prioritization of technical group activities and by meeting with customers when needed.  This position is a member of the TPE business team.

    • Supports direction and objectives of the business and technology at the plant level
    • Addresses major and minor formulation adjustments and design.
    • Provide effective management of the technical staff at the plant level.
    • Support the use of technology tools and processes
    • Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with safety processes
    • Assign and/or support production and plant where and when necessary,
    • Reviews and assigns dispositions with corrective action(s) on all rejected product and raw materials.
    • Assigns and/or supports process engineering issues (trials) and provides direction when needed.
    • Maintains department SOP’s.
    • Resolves lab scheduling conflicts when multiple lab requests are submitted by different product engineers with the same completion deadline
    • Participates in customer meetings when called for.
    • Keep abreast of latest technology development trends and competitive activity.
    • Double as Complaints Manager in leading investigation into customer complaints.

    Qualifications & Competencies

    • Position requires minimum10 years of technical management experience.
    • Position requires an in-depth level of technical understanding and the ability to manage complex projects that cross several departments.
    • Position requires strong leadership abilities to manage various business segments from a technical perspective.
    • Bachelor of Science Degree required in engineering or chemistry. Prefer a Masters Degree (ok).
    • A high degree of analytic ability and inductive thinking is required to devise new technically complex problems.
    • Position requires critical thinking to help solve both specific and broad technical problems. Ability to recognize, evaluate and guide the use of creativity with departmental personnel.
    • Self-motivated, disciplined and directed; goal oriented.
    • Strong decision making and problem solving skills
    • Effective communication skills along with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Able to establish priorities and direct activities of direct reports to assure R&D, technical services, and process engineering project activities are accomplished in a timely manner
